Choosing a Corset

My love for corsetry began at a young age, and once you explore the history and structure of these exquisite garments, it's easy to see why so many are captivated by them. Corsets and stays have been part of fashion history for hundreds of years, and while styles change, the allure of a cinched body shape stays evergreen.

Corsets have been an integral part of the Evgenia story since 2011, back when the brand was known as Honey Cooler Handmade. I've been crafting them ever since and have fitted hundreds of happy customers over the years.

Let's say you're ready to take the plunge and invest in a corset of your own. But how do you choose the perfect one?

There are several factors to consider when selecting an Evgenia corset. Here, we'll explore each style and its unique features to help you find your perfect match.

The Classic Ribbon Corset

This silhouette is thoughtfully drafted from an antique Edwardian corset in my collection. True to its name, it's crafted entirely from millinery petersham ribbon. Evgenia's rayon petersham molds beautifully to the body over time, ensuring a refined, custom fit with every wear. Its sturdy busk and steel bones hold a beautiful shape that has become an Evgenia signature.

This underbust corset provides a substantial cinch while remaining so comfortable that customers often describe it as feeling "like a hug." It's a perfect introduction to corsetry—lightweight and gentle enough for everyday wear, yet structured enough to create a beautifully nipped shape. Whether worn as lingerie or layered over your favorite dress, it offers both elegance and ease in an array of hues: white, black, red, and dark green.

Expect a cinch of 2-3" or more. For a proper fit, select a size 2-4" smaller than your natural waist measurement.

The Luxe Ribbon Corset

Maintaining the same structure as the classic Ribbon Corset, the Luxe version offers premium upgrades, including a five-point busk and gleaming gold hardware. The best part? This style features detachable garters, making it perfect for pairing with traditional stockings. Prefer to skip the hosiery? Simply slide off the straps for a completely different look. This style comes in black, red, dark green, white, and glimmering light pink.

As with the traditional Ribbon Corset, this style cinches down 2-3" or more, so be sure to select a size that is 2-4" smaller than your natural waist measurement.

The Starlet Waspie

This shining star of a cincher is crafted from two layers of cotton bobbinet overlaid with starry embroidered lace. Made from over 100 separate components, this exquisite corset is another underbust style, this time with a 1950's styling. The Starlet Waspie has slightly more give than the Ribbon Corset silhouette, and has black bobbinet trim, detachable garters and back lacing for a truly exquisite lingerie experience.

Since this style has more give than for the Ribbon Corset silhouette, be sure to select a size that is 3-5" smaller than your natural waist measurement.

The Olympe Swiss Waist

Our newest addition to the Evgenia corsetry lineup, the Olympe Swiss Waist is old world style crystallized. This piece draws inspiration from the swiss waist silhouette that was popular in the mid-1800's. Crafted with structured elements similar to traditional corsetry, instead of being used as a foundation garment, the Victorian swiss waist was worn over clothing as a belt-like flourish. Similar to its inspiration piece, the Olympe Swiss Waist wears beautifully over clothes, as well as with lingerie pieces from the Olympe collection. It's copious gathering, petite ribbon flowers, and shapely structure will have you falling in love.

For the most alluring, comfortable cinch, select a size that is 2-3" smaller than your natural waist.
